Are you Going To The Gym, AGAIN?

I've heard this question more than once in my lifetime and never, ever, will I apologise for it.  Going to do a gym session, doing a run, or anything that moves my body and makes me feel good, will ever be a bad thing.  All mums, listen up!  This is not about how you look or even how your clothes feel, it's about how your mind feels being away for just an hour feeling a bit more like 'you'.  Getting fitter, feeling stronger, feeling healthier, are all hugely valid reasons for leaving your family for just a little hour.  That's all, you can even do half an hour if you really don't have an hour.  Anything that gets you moving will help to make you feel better.  A walk in the sunshine, a bike ride, a coached session with other people, whatever it is.  An hour out and you'll be refreshed and ready to get back to it.

Lots of women feel this huge guilt about leaving family life for a gym or training session when in fact, I think it goes a long way to helping that family life.  You need to have your own life too, even if it is only for an hour.  I'm not saying spend all your waking hours training as that isn't healthy either but a few hours a week?  Massively beneficial to everyone.  Children follow your lead, so you leading an active life can only be a good thing and have a positive impact on them.  I love that my kids see me exercising and love that they know that when my trainers go on, I start work!

So ladies, forget the guilt.  Get yourself out and at 'em and if all else fails, think "what would the men do?!"
